At the end of October, a Houston Police Officer was killed in a motorcycle accident while traveling on the South Freeway.
According to an accident report, the 16-year police veteran was northbound on the highway just after 8 p.m. when a Pontiac Grand Prix traveling in the same direction made an quick lane change into the officer’s lane and struck the motorcycle.
The collision caused the man to be thrown from the motorcycle and onto the roadway. The 44-year-old officer was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in order to be treated, but he was later pronounced dead.
Police officials have stated that the investigation into the accident is still underway and they do no believe that the driver of the Grand Prix was impaired at the time of the collision. The officer worked in the traffic enforcement division of the Houston Police Department since December 1995.
