The Houston Chronicle is reporting that an explosion occurred at an Air Liquide gas plant in LaPorte, a town about 25 miles southwest of Houston. One employee was seriously injured and another is missing, according to preliminary reports. The explosion occurred at a facility that houses industrial gases (nitrogen, hydrogen) that are used in food processing, electronics manufacturing, and processes.
Nearby residences were informed early on Saturday morning that the fires were under control, and air tests have revealed that no dangerous substances have contaminated the air nearby. Please check back in with Williams Kherkher’s legal blog for updates on this story.
